C119 Report - 12/17/2011 - Year End Report.

Our last outdoor project of the year was the removal of the horizontal elevator, which turned out to be a challenge. One bolt and bearing assembly refused to come apart. We tried rust removers, hammers, pry bars, and heat, but to no avail. Now we will wait until Spring and remove the whole bracket assembly on one end so we can work on the stubborn parts on the ground.

We have the two rudders and two ailerons in the 1941 hanger. Ollie and George have already started working on them.

This is one of the ailerons awaiting repair. The service ladder on the table will also be fixed and painted.

The other rudder and aileron are stored on the floor for the moment. We need to build a couple more sawhorses.

We wish to thank all those who helped us during the year. Many of you gave us physical, financial, and moral support. It is because of you we have been so successful in our restoration efforts.

The old girl looks fine decked out for Christmas. She's come a long way this year, thanks to the four guys standing in front of her. A hearty "Well done, gentlemen!"
