It's been much too cold to work outside so the aircraft wait patiently for the warmer Spring weather to arrive.
Paul Nothnagle started working on the second of our park benches.
Due to the ornate nature of our very rusted bench ends, we had Miller Sandblasting and Painting of Rochester help us clean them up. The piece at left is freshly blasted and a piece with primer is at right. Primer must be applied within 24 hours of blasting to prevent rust from forming.
The next step was to apply the finish coat of paint.
While Paul was doing that, I continued working on the Ambulance.
This is only a rough cleaning and base painting of the Ambulance. Later we will go back and fill in the holes with body filler.
Little by little, we moved along towards the front.
It's looking better and better as we work on the nose of the vehicle.
The rear body is done with the gas can and shelf remounted.
The radiator and nose frame.
Some of the many pieces we removed and painted. We were lucky to get a couple of warm sunny days to paint outside.
Paul is also rebuilding and painting our third picnic bench for Boxcar Park. Here he is sanding new park bench slats before staining them to match our original one.
